매콤달콤 쫄깃한 한국 대표 길거리 간식, 떡볶이

🇰🇷 Introduction to Korean Food

Tteokbokki is one of Korea's most beloved and representative street foods. The chewy rice cakes and the spicy yet sweet gochujang-based sauce create a fantastic harmony. Depending on your preference, adding boiled eggs, fried foods, or dumplings makes it a perfect meal or a hearty snack. Recently, it has been widely recognized by gourmets around the world as a signature Korean spicy dish.

🍳 Cooking Recipe (Steps)

  1. 1. Soak the tteokbokki rice cakes (300g) in cold water for about 10 minutes, then rinse and drain.
  2. 2. Cut the square fish cake (2 sheets) into bite-sized pieces, and slice the green onion (1 stalk) diagonally.
  3. 3. Pour 2.5 cups of water (500ml) into a pot and mix in 2 tablespoons of gochujang (Korean chili paste), 1 tablespoon of gochugaru (Korean chili flakes), 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of oligosaccharide (or corn syrup), and 1/2 teaspoon of minced garlic to make the seasoning sauce.
  4. 4. When the sauce boils, add the rice cakes first and boil them so the sauce seeps into the cakes.
  5. 5. Once the rice cakes become soft, add the sliced fish cakes and green onions, and cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes until the sauce thickens and reduces.
  6. 6. Serve in a pretty bowl with a few drops of sesame oil, and finish by lightly sprinkling with roasted sesame seeds.
